Hey hey hey,
3 DAYS UNTIL I COME HOME! I cannot believe how quickly this first semester has gone, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed documenting all my adventures on this blog, and I hope that those of you who continue to read them week on week aren’t get bored of me (I’m trying to continue to be cool and interesting I promise). This week has and will be a busy one so on hopefully this post will entertain you.
On Tuesday I did some my finishing touches for one of my essays ready to send to my Dad to check over for me, since it has to be submitted on Friday, and then myself and Dan decided to got a Toy Story exhibition. Toy Story exhibition? Yes, they transformed the House of Vans workshop near the London Eye into a fully interactive Toy Story experience. But because we’re the luckiest kids in the world, when we got there, it was shut. The workshop isn’t open on Tuesdays! Dates never go to plan for us! So after Dan had his sulk we decided to do what we do best and wander the amazing city we live in. So we walked back up to the London Eye, across the bridge towards the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, down past Downing Street and through Horse Guards Parade before strolling through quite an eery St James’ Park towards Buckingham Palace to visit Queenie. The Palace is so much better to see during the evening/night-time because there aren’t half as many tourists pushed up against the fence trying to get a good shot of the place! We went and caught the tube then at Green Park and went back to Dans to have our very own Christmas dinner, which was divine if I do say so myself! It was so nice to have veg for once 😉 I did take a photo which I was going to insert here but it looks weird so just trust that it looked and tasted amazing, because it did. To carry on with the theme of being spontaneous that we’ve achieved over the past couple of weeks, myself, Dan and Sarah made a spontaneous visit to Emily’s for a couple of hours on Tuesday evening which was lush because I hadn’t seen her in a good few days and I’d missed her beautiful face (God knows how we’ll cope over the Christmas holidays). We ended up staying really late and Dan and I had to trek back to mine which took what felt like forever.
On Wednesday we worked all day since we both have deadlines to meet this week and then i scooted off to my events meeting at 4, which I was on time for this week! Last week I thought it was at 5 and walked in and everyone was already there and they were wrapping up the meeting, whoopsie, my bad. But I made it on time this week, yay me! After the meeting I went back over to Dans because he was videoing and recording one of his songs with Richard, a guy from his course, and Em made an appearance too. I stayed and helped with the filming and did some of my essay to get it out of the way before making my way home to get a good night sleep before a busy Thursday. But here is me, pretending I know how to play the guitar and pretending to be a rock star :). I hope you enjoyed that sight.
Thursday was a whirlwind of a day, I had my lecture at 10 as you all know, we finished at 1 and i went straight from there to a student rep meeting which was interesting. If you didn’t know already I am the Business course’s student representative along with another lovely lady, Freya. If you don’t know what a student representative is, it’s basically like school council when you’re in Primary/High School, if any of the students have any positive or negative feedback they don’t want to give directly to any one of our tutors they can tell us and we’ll relay that to them in our meetings which happen twice a term. Once I was done there I went to meet Max and Chris for a cheeky, almost the end of the semester, Nando’s. My detox has gone well and truly down the drain, but it’s Christmas so I’m allowed, good, glad we’ve established that. Chris and I then returned back to my flat for a few hours while Max went to work. We managed to get in about 2/3 hours of work done before heading down to Tileyard for a panel which was really interesting. Tileyard is a creative space/publishing company/management company based in North West London. The panel was on digital branding in the creative sector and was really interesting actually. Unfortunately at 5:20pm on Thursday a 20-year-old lad was shot and killed outside a cafe opposite ICMP so there was a bit of commotion with people turning up and things like that.
On Friday lectures started at 10 and you could see as you walked into uni that people had started laying flowers where the boy was killed and there was a section of a street further down the high road that had been cordoned off. I was saying to Cris and Holly during our lunch break how crazy it was that someone would be at home or lying in bed knowing that they had just taken an innocent boys life. The world we live in is crazy, and it proves that anything can happen, even at your own front door. Uni finished and I made my way home to the wife (Lils), and got into bed, did a little bit more of my essay and settled down to watch Silent Witness. And then, spontaneously, Dan came over because he missed me 🙂 personally, I don’t blame him, I’m a blessing in everyone’s life (I’m joking, obviously). And he came with a bag of Minstrels, which I was even happier with!
As a squad we celebrated our own little Christmas Day together on Saturday, with booze, snacks, card games and of course, a political debate. What’s Christmas without a good ole Brexit chat eh? But we had a lovely evening nonetheless and I’m going to miss them all a lot while being home over the holidays.
I SAW QUEEN JACKIE ON SUNDAY!!!!! Mumma Bear was in London this weekend to visit the various family members we have up here and to give them all their Christmas presents. She embodies Santa at this time of year I like to think. Travels all the way up to London with her big black suitcase full of presents for all the good girls and boys in the family. We went to have a coffee, catch up and some breakfast at Borough Markets on Sunday morning which was lovely! The food was really nice in a cute little pub just outside the market, and then we made our way back to the flat, and in true Jackie Moore style, we were in our pyjamas by 5:30 and snuggled up watching a film. I say snuggled up, Mum hijacked my dressing gown while I revised for my exam for Monday. With an exhausted Queen Jackie all tucked up and asleep by 10 I watched some more Silent Witness before nodding off myself.
I had to wake up early on Monday to go to a doctor’s appointment, and once that was all wrapped up, I came back to get ready for the day before taking Mum over to Victoria so she could catch her bus home. I went straight to uni from there to do some last-minute cramming with Chris for our Business and Finance exam and then went into our lecture to find Yannis, our lecturer blasting Clean Bandit – Rockabye to get us pumped for the exam! What a legend. I think I’ve done well, I revised the most that I could and I tried my best and that’s all I can do really, I’ll just have to wait for my results now. I then ran my first open mic night as part of the university’s events team, it was a bit slow starting but we had a few sign ups and managed to be ahead of schedule despite starting late! How we did that I have no idea.
Today I have spent in the flat, we had a boiler inspection this morning which revealed a minor gas leak so I’m sat in my room while a guy hammers and drills away in the utility room. But I spent the time in between the excessive noise and trying to explain different things to different engineers pretending to know what I’m on about, packing, because….. 3 DAYS AND I WILL BE HOME FOR THREE WEEKS!!!!!
I’m so excited to come home, it’s been seven weeks since I was home last and boy doesn’t it feel like it! I can’t believe it’s been six since I saw Mum last, before this weekend! I’ve just got two exams and an essay submission and I’ll be on that bus listening to Chris Rear’s ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ being the happiest little Wish girl in the world. I’m excited to write about it as well, I think the next couple of weeks will be really exciting in terms of posts and I’m sure there’ll be a lot of pictures to go along with them.
Because I can’t post all of my pictures on each blog make sure you follow me on instagram (@lauuolivia) to see what I get up to. I hope you’ve all had an amazing week preparing for the big day and finishing work and school and I’ll speak to you soon.
Lots of love,
